Who’s ready for the last collaboration of the season? Because we sure are! One of the most iconic projects this Autumn/ Winter has just landed and it’s something everyone needs to know about. Introducing Our Legacy Work Shop x Baracuta! Our Legacy is a Swedish independent fashion cult brand founded in 2005 by Jockum Hallin, Cristopher Nying and Richardos Klarén and it focuses on sustainability, while applying their own twist to timeless design staples, using custom-developed fabrics, minimalist silhouettes, and textures. Being a point of reference for younger generations, both Baracuta and Our Legacy Work Shop have joined forces to express their passion for sustainable garments. 

Finding sustainable ways to carry out daily life is becoming the number one thing people think about. “How can I do this, but in an eco-friendlier way?”. For example, taking the bus instead of going by car, Taking quicker showers, using reusable cups for your morning coffee fix, recycling your waste, and finding brands who are conscious about the materials used in their garments, whether they be recycled or high quality and long lasting.  

Baracuta is focused on sourcing recycled and using high quality materials not just for many of our iconic outerwear pieces but also for a lot of our knitwear, it’s paramount in the construction of our garments. Our goal is to construct pieces with top-quality materials and craftsmanship, allowing our clothing to last generations. They are staple iconic pieces. We do not produce for the purpose of fast fashion we are slow fashion. 

In 2016 Our Legacy brought about their Work Shop initiative, a workspace and retail platform dedicated to recycling and upcycling old deadstock, in an attempt to minimalize any fashion waste, avoiding landfill. It is exactly why Baracuta is working with the brand to upcycle and recycle old garments to create a limited-edition collector’s piece. 

So, what is this piece you ask? Our Legacy Work Shop has brought life to Baracuta’s most sought after item, the G9 Harrington Jacket, which has changed the outerwear world since its creation. However, switching things up a bit by using recycled materials from garments which would have ended up in landfill and giving life to something that can be worn time and time again, the Our Legacy Wool Canvas G9 Jacket.

The collector’s piece is available in not one but two colours: Black and Brown Khaki! Maintaining all the features of the G9 Harrington icon, like the dog-ear collar, the ribbed cuffs and waistband, raglan sleeves to facilitate extra movement, diagonal front pockets with a button and flap closure, the signature umbrella back yoke and lest we forget the unmistakable Fraser Tartan Lining, while also using warehouse fabrics from the Scandinavian brand Our Legacy. The eco-sustainable jacket is also embroidered with the logo of Our Legacy on the chest. The best part? The jacket is completely genderless, it's for anyone and everyone no matter who they are. Ideal for those who are conscious of their carbon footprint, who like staple outerwear pieces which go with everything in their wardrobe, or for those who are lovers of good quality garments!
